Director- Behavior Change:FHI 360

FHI 360 is seeking qualified candidates for the following position subject to the condition that FHI 360 is successfully awarded the Health System Delivery Project.

Position Title: Director- Behavior Change

This position is for an upcoming position on a project and is dependent on project award

BASIC FUNCTION:


The Director, Behavior Change will provide leadership in behavior change strategies within the communities of  this four-year project aiming to secure technical services for the implementation of activities under the new NGO health service delivery activity. The purpose of this project is to support the delivery of an essential service package through a network of non-governmental organization clinics that primarily targets the poor and underserved. The Director, Behavior Change will be responsible for incorporating new approaches to promote optimal health behaviors and community participation, and to enhance local ownership of service delivery through institutional strengthening.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •     Provide leadership in behavior change strategies by ensuring innovative and state-of-the-art programming and provides direction to the project managed out of FHI 360.
  •     Support local NGO partners to oversee implementation of BCC and social mobilization activities as well as outreach to community leaders and health workers.
  •     Oversee and provide technical assistance and quality assurance to the NGOs to strengthen their capacity to develop, disseminate and evaluate behavior change information and knowledge management systems at the local level.
  •     Develops training materials and conducts training on strategic behavioral communication (SBC) for prevention and promotion of health care-seeking behavior as needs are identified.
  •     Liaises and coordinates technical approaches to behavior change strategies amongst local partners in both public and NGO sectors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  •     A minimum of 10 years’ experience in international health, with a minimum of 5 years direct work experience in developing countries as a senior technical expert in behavior change highly desired.
  •     Proven expertise in achieving behavior change results through well-conceptualized, planned and implemented behavior change communication and community mobilization programs.
  •     Demonstrated strong management, coordination, teamwork, and planning skills, with proven ability to function effectively with multiple host-country counterparts in both the public and NGO sectors.

MINIMUM RECRUITMENT STANDARDS:

  •     A minimum of Masters-level degree in communications, social communications, public health or a related field.
  •     Strong verbal and written English communications skills; Bangla and knowledge of the region is an asset.
