The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Bangladesh invites applications from Bangladeshi nationals for recruitment of the following position:

Title: Sr. Programme Assistant (Monitoring)
Contract type: Service Contract (SC)
Level: SB-3
No. of position: 1 (one)
Duty Station: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Duration: 1 Year (extendable subject to availability of fund and satisfactory performance)

Major Duties and responsibilities:
  • Assess programme performance including utilization of resources and achievement of planned targets;
  • Monitor, update and track data related to project issues, informing the relevant divisions accordingly; ensure accuracy of data related to the above;
  • Assist in compiling monthly statistics on programme activities, by extracting relevant information from reports and databases; interpret and summarize the statistics, making the information available for monthly briefs to senior management and other related purposes;
  • Ensure programme monitoring targets are met, especially with regard to qualitative monitoring
  • Ensure minimum quality standards are set and observed in programme monitoring, especially with regard to qualitative monitoring;
  • Prepare status and progress reports by providing information and background material for use in discussions and briefing sessions;
  • Carry out advocacy and information related tasks for project/programme activities such as making interventions and presentations in meetings, workshops, seminars, missions, etc;
  • Provide guidance and assistance to monitoring staff working in field-based positions, with a particular focus on qualitative monitoring;
  • Evaluate, develop, recommend procedures;
  • Participate in discussions on new/revised procedures and practices; interpret and assesses the impact of changes and makes recommendations on follow up actions;
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Education: University degree preferably in disciplines like, sociology, economics, agricultural economics, geography, anthropology, development studies, human resources, public administration, transport, development economics or other related field.

Experience: At least six years of progressively responsible experience of which at least one year closely related to operations, food aid related work or other related field.

Desirable skills
  • Training and/or experience using MS Word and MS Excel, WFP’s Information System (WINGS) and other WFP software;
  • Knowledge of WFP financial regulations; and rules and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work.
Language: Fluency in Bangla and English language, both oral and written is essential.
