Job Description / Responsibility
  • RDRS Bangladesh in partnership with European Union, Church of Sweden and Dan Church Aid is going to implement 4 years long, Governance related project named 'Strengthening Community Based Organizations for Pro-poor Democratic Governance' (SCOPE) in Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Rangpur and Nilphamari districts. The project aims for improving governance situation at Union Parishods with activating local Community Based Organizations (CBO/Federation) as pressure group.
  • The main responsibilities of Senior Trainer (Governance and Advocacy) will be as follows:
  • Attend federation meetings (EC, GC, AGM, Planning, etc) for sharing and understanding governance level, practice and participation of general members;
  • Guide Federation Information Advocacy Unit to perform RBA related activities in the interest of poor people;
  • Discuss with federation leaders, information cells management committees to identify their problems with root causes and assist to overcome those problems through advocacy & networking;
  • Selecting issues, develop papers and facilitate workshop, orientation, campaign, gathering, day observance, exchange/ exposure visit etc.;
  • Facilitate different meeting/ orientation for different networking tires, meeting for Federation network leaders on conflict management; governance, advocacy & networking related issues;
  • Provide technical support to Senior Social Development Officers for effective, advocacy and networking with UP on ensuring community participation;
  • Attend & observe ward level meeting, planning session, review session, open day, social audit and others to understand governance level; practice; and constraints if any and recommend overcoming;
  • Facilitate meeting/ trainings and workshop on governance, advocacy & network related issues for Union Parishods;
  • Provide technical support for liaison and network with duty bearers, local government representatives, civil society, indigenous leaders, religious leaders, CBO leaders, Human rights defenders for establishing poor people’s rights;
  • Assist Senior Social Development Officers through regular and timely sharing of field-findings to minimize the constraints/ barriers to project operation;
  • Monitor press and other mass media for collecting data and produce printing and audiovisual material and disseminate;
  • Maintain working relation with print & electronic media for information dissemination in favor of vulnerable people;
  • Facilitate press conference, training for press people, Federation fair, Human Chain, Rally, etc for ensuring poor people’s rights;
  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator/ Assistant Project Coordinator to setup systems to surface topics of interest on a regular basis emerging from the field;
  • Attend in RDRS Meetings with updated information’s;
  • Attend in different meeting (other than RDRS) if deemed by the management;
  • Coordinate with RDRS Program Coordinator/ Program Managers (FC) for mutual interest;
  • Maintain organizational regulations and implement it at his/her jurisdiction;
  • Prepare quarterly report, annual report and other reports as per requirement;
  • Prepare monthly work plan upon consultation with the supervisors and post activity report against plan;
  • S/he will carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the senior management as required by the project or organization.
Educational Requirements
  • Masters in any discipline

  • Minimum 2 year(s)

  • Age below or equal to 35 year(s)
  • At least 2 years working experience in development sector.
  • Good interpersonal skills and relationship with others and communication skills;
  • Excellent presentation and Facilitation skill
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work under stressful situation and meet deadlines.
  • Willing to travel extensively within the RDRS operational area and beyond.
  • Motorcycle driving with valid license is a must.
